In the wake of Consumer New Zealand's review of the infamous Kmart Blender with a lifespan of one week, our GM Patrick Moynahan provided his insight to NewstalkZB regarding Kiwis' obsession with cheap electronics, our disposable' culture, and positive moves for the future.

In case you missed it, Consumer New Zealand recently decided to give a $29 Kmart blender ago as part of their product testing scheme. After using the blender to make a daily smoothie, and despite a 12 month warranty, the appliance was in need of repair after only seven days. To remedy this, Kmart offered Consumer NZ an exchange or refund - but not an option to have the appliance repaired. 

This brought to light our increasing urge to simply replace - or have refunded -items that are faulty, instead of working to have them repaired and extend their lifespan. 

In response to this, Patrick was able to speak with Newstalk ZB's Early Edition to talk about how Kiwis need to rethink their use of cheap electronics, and how it is creating an addictive, disposable culture.
